Project DescriptionUsing nature, TNC partnered with the parish to retrofit the parking lot with GSI. As one of the largest GSI projects at a faith-based institution in Detroit, it is estimated to keep 1.5 million gallons out of the sewer system annually and manages runoff from 1.4 acres of impervious area. The large bioretention gardens add native plants and greenspace to the church parking lot and earns the parish a 49% green credit on their drainage charge.

Big thanks to Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. & DTE Foundations for making this possible; and to the Garden Club’s commitment to stewardship and upkeep!
